Wildfire Mitigation

Our community was impacted by the 2017 wildfire season with many residents put on evacuation alert for up to 2 months for two different wild fires in the region. Our neighbours to the east, north, south and west experienced evacuation orders and Highway 24, which runs the length of our community, was an busy evacuation route for the Cariboo region throughout both the 2017 and 2018 wildfire seasons.

The 2018 wildfires were located further away but still had an impact.  Residents are encouraged to understand the fire smart programs and do what they can to prepare for and mitigate losses that could be caused by a wildfire in our community.
