Harvesting of aspen on the north side of Highway 24 is complete east of Wavey Lake Road, including the block near Opax Road. The old trails to “five meadows” and beyond have been replaced with new logging roads which will be usable with off road vehicles although unlogged trails have substantial downed trees. Planned logging on the north side of the highway, between the two gravel pits and still flagged has been cancelled. The planned aspen logging northeast of the McCarthy residential area has begun, on a new access road. The access road will service the expansion of West Fraser’s evergreen harvesting on the north and east side of the Telus tower. This new logging road will eventually provide access to crown land for the public from the McCarthy corner public easement through to Wavey Lake Road near 201 Road.
